Jotted between late night walks, long distance movie calls, guitar hero tracks, and long drives Charlotte, North Carolina octet Motocrossed bring a compelling blend of alt-country and chamber pop on their debut self-titled release. The project is sculpted around Blaire Fullagar’s twisting and turning song structures and Carolyn Becht’s precise and emotive drumming. Together they lay the foundation for the gaze-y yet powerful guitar playing of AJ George, and the very vocal and energetic lap-steel from Colin Reed who is also credited for playing a total of nine instruments across the record. Alongside Todd Jordan’s supporting melodies on bass holding down the rhythm section, flutist Jude Dennis and trumpeter Alex Frye provide a dense orchestral arrangement on top. With Sofie Pedersen layering beautiful vocal harmonies and other guest instrumentalists stepping in throughout the project the band achieves a very maximalist and gorgeous sound.
